Learn Spiritual Journaling with Women Journaling Greenville
January 30th, 2013 . by ssh
Have you tried journaling, but then quit? OR have you never tried it, but would like to? OR have you been journaling every day since you turned 13?
Regardless of your current skill level or your prior experience, Greenville women are invited to join this recently formed meetup group meeting at Greenville Community of Christ roughly every other week.
This group is for women who are interested in what journaling does or can add to their lives. In particular, we will focus on spiritual journaling as a Christian spiritual discipline.
The “spiritual” part means we will focus on writing about not just what happens in our lives, but also examining what meaning events have for us. We will learn to think intentionally about the purpose and value of experiences and practices, in terms of what God wants for us.
This is a non-denominational group. Everyone is welcome. All perspectives will be encouraged as long as they are presented with respect for others. No judging allowed.
We will also explore other spiritual disciplines including prayer, scripture study, meditation, and walking the labyrinth.
Material on spiritual disciplines is primarily based on Spiritual Disciplines Handbook by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun. Additional material on different types of journaling is supplied by the group organizer, Community of Christ member Sharon Hines.
Meeting notices are posted under Women Journaling Greenville on meetup.com.
There are currently 2 sub-groups — one meeting during the day and the other meeting in the evening. Each meeting topic is is discussed once in each group.
PLEASE NOTE: Since we are a small group, meetings may be rescheduled at the last minute if not enough people are coming. Be sure to check for last minute updates BEFORE you leave home for the meeting.
